JOB TITLE: Department Sales Lead - Softlines

REPORTS TO: Assistant Sales Manager – Softlines

 

 

OVERVIEW

 

It is the primary responsibility of the Department Sales Lead to work in the Softlines department and to provide assistance and excellent guest service while maintaining a comfortable shopping environment. All duties are to be performed in accordance with Par-Tee Golf policies, practices and procedures.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Customer Service

 

  • Provide customers with highest level of customer service, emphasizing courteous and

knowledgeable assistance to each and every customer

  • Demonstrate the ability to listen to and solve customer issues
  • Understand and be knowledgeable of how to handle customer complaints
  • Address asset protection issues that may occur in the department in a manner that there is neither a loss to the company nor an uncontrollable situation with the customer

 

Sales

 

  • Sell merchandise at company established prices and ensure discrepancies are addressed and authorized accordingly
  • Be familiar with golf apparel and accessories and suggestive selling of these essential items
  • Possess golf product knowledge and be familiar with the product knowledge materials and vendor product lines
  • Be knowledgeable of merchandise on the floor as well as in the backroom, including verification of the current selling price
  • Keep current on all new product information
  • Be familiar with the daily advertising and promotions to accurately inform the customer
  • Communicate to store management any missed opportunities in sales due to product
  • Assist in product training for associates in the department and help conduct in-store product training meetings
  • Attend vendor clinics for products related to the department(s)

 

Floor Stock and Display

 

  • Ensure the store area is neatly arranged and meets retail standards
  • Maintain floor standards, customer service standards, and utilizes selling skills
  • Assist with proper merchandising execution to maximize sales, earnings, and customer

satisfaction

  • Support in developing floor standards, visual merchandising, customer service standards, and sales techniques
  • Communicate any merchandise processing issues to the manager
  • Be involved in process of taking inventory and cycle counts
  • Enforce established policies, procedures, and job standards
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed

 

Pro Shop/Club Fittings

 

  • Ensure showcases, counter top, and corner displays meet company standard
  • Ensure that company safety practices are being followed by associates
  • Ensures company standards for merchandise presentation are met on a consistent basis
  • Oversees implementation of merchandising and advertising guidelines; monitors pricing and verifies ad merchandise setup and signage are accurate in designated areas.
  • Ensures accuracy and timely completion of prices changes and price identification in designated area
  • Ensure department is well stocked, priced and displayed per company standards to maximize the opportunity for sales
  • Communicating regularly with management on product requests, outs, hot items and inventory concerns, as well as staffing requirements
  • Ensure stockroom/backroom is maintained per the company standards
  • Ensure smooth flow of merchandise from stockroom to sales floor
  • Works with buyer and GM to ensure discontinued merchandise is cleared out and that markdowns are appropriate
  • Handle special order follow-up, i.e. vendor and customer contact

 

SKILLS, EDUCATION, COMPETENCIES

 

  • College or equivalent education
  • 1-3 years experience in a retail environment or equivalent relevant experience
  • 1-3 years club fitting or club repair experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Internet an asset
  • Affinity for golf, regularly keep up to date with market trends and new innovations in golf retail
  • Flare for fashion
  • Strong communication and leadership skills and sound judgment
  • Detail oriented and strong attention to customer service
  • Ability to execute company standards successfully
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills-ability to adapt to meet a wide range of customer needs, able to build rapport quickly
  • Creative, innovative
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
